According to the Independent Adoption Center, the average wait time from when a prospective adoptive family completes all of their pre-adoption paperwork and a child is placed in their home is from 6 months to 18 months (http://www.adoptionhelp.org/adoption_statistics/2006.html). The time that the children stay in orphanages can range from birth to 18-years-old. If children can be adopted within a matter of months why should they have to stay in orphanages because the couple that wants to adopt them are of the same sex?

How does this time period compare to same sex couples? Is there a difference? I know that I've heard of heterosexual couples waiting for years to adopt. Do you know why/if there is a difference?
Upon reseaching my topic I found a blog written by a same-sex couple. In the blog, http://thedaddydiaries.wordpress.com/, the couple talk about their months of being investigated by a countiuning home worker. the couple express that they believe that their treatment is strange and unusal.
I am currently writing about gay marriage in america and how it should be allowed, so I can totally agree with what you are talking about! There are tons of children that want homes, and there are tons of homosexuals that want to adopt children, so why are there restrictions on gay adoption? America is ridiculous!
I agree with you aperry. I believe if same-sex couples are allowed to marry then they should be allowed to adopt. America wants these couples to be normal and don't most normal families have children.
